In reply to S Thuren. Hi there, La Merce's programme features literally hundreds of events each year, so there should be many things happening on the 23rd and 24th. I can't be 100% sure what, but just keep an eye on the website for when the programme comes out... https://www.barcelona.cat/lamerce/en With a bit of luck there should be some castellers on the 23rd and 24th, and they'll definitely be some parades. As I say best to keep an eye on the official website and check the programme to be able to plan your travels accordingly.

I see the dates for La Merce 2019 have been posted as Sept 20-24. If we are hoping to see the castellers and the grand parade with the giant doll-like floats, would your experience be that these things are more likely to be on the weekend prior (Sept 20-22) or on the actual feast day (24th)? We want to plan accordingly but weren’t planning to arrive until the 23rd and don’t want to miss the things we’d like to see most. Thanks.
